Virgin Australia has reopened its Lifetime Lounge program to new members.
Membership buys access to Virgin Australia’s seven domestic lounges in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, and the Gold Coast.
The Lifetime Lounge pass costs $9,750 for those under 60 and $6,750 for members 60 or above.
Is it a good deal?
Yes, if you regularly fly domestic in Australia. But it’s not as good a deal as it used to be.
Previously, the Virgin Australia Lifetime Lounge pass included access to Air New Zealand international lounges.
Virgin Australia has also closed six domestic lounges since 2020, so the pass gets you far less than it used to.
It’s also important to note that if you usually fly business or first class, lounge access would automatically be included in your ticket. But if your company will only pay for economy – this might be worth the cost. Lounge access really does make all the difference to a trip.
Pay per visit
If you don’t fly that often, it may be worth considering a one time lounge pass.
All Virgin Australia passengers can now purchase entry to the lounge at the door up to two hours before departure for $65 per person, “subject to space availability”.
Red and Silver Velocity cardholders may want to consider a yearly membership for the flat fee of $399. At the moment Virgin Australia has scrapped the lounge’s previous $330 joining fee.
