For travellers who seek the finest that the world has to offer

The ultimate check in… For horses

With a location near Ascot Racecourse that draws in some of the world’s most notable thoroughbreds, and a reputation for being one of the most luxurious of country house hotels, it is unsurprising that Coworth Park has developed the ultimate check in experience… for its equestrian visitors, that is.

The Dorchester Collection property is the only offering in the United Kingdom to offer polo as an activity for its guests, and has stable facilities providing all the comforts a horse could desire. Its latest Ultimate Horse Check In – priced from £50 per day excluding VAT – will see your stallion friend enjoy all the traditional perks and more. Indeed, they’ll be living the dream that they never knew they had.

So what creations have these horse-whisperers concocted for arriving steeds?

Firstly, they’ll be assigned a stable (with a personalised name sign on the door) and given a keepsake welcome card, as well has having their dietary and bedding preferences noted. There is then a horsey welcome gift in the form of a ‘polo ball’ from nearby Guards Polo Club. Special horse amenities will also be dished out on arrival; a Himalayan Rock Salt Lick, an assortment of home-made horse treats (made by Coworth Park’s pastry chef Luke Frost using molasses, oats, honey), and home-grown carrots are sure to hit the spot. Ultimate comfort will be enjoyed by your horse when they use a Coworth Park Numnah (saddle cloth), made of 100 per cent pure cotton. And things get even more indulgent by means of an Equine manicure – the hoof oil moisturising treatment will have weary trotters feeling young again – a luxurious post-ride bubble bath with natural equine aromatherapy wash, and an oil muscle massage and rubdown. The latter is conducted by one of the hotel’s expert stable hands, who will also ensure peace of mind each time you stray from the stables knowing that your loved companion is in the safest of hands.

This offer is available all year, but all horse guests must ensure they arrive accompanied by copies of insurance information, passport and proof of up-to-date vaccinations.

Equestrian at Coworth Park is open for both hotel and local residents, no matter their riding standard, with facilities include an all-weather canter track and equestrian accommodation with rubber matting, social stalls, a covered barn and bathing bays. The park offers everything from one-to-one or group lessons in basic riding, to dressage, jumping and pony camps (for both children and adults).

Away from the stables, Coworth Park has a bounty of other delights to delve into. The 70-room country house is surrounded on all fronts by the greens of Berkshire parkland, located just 45 minutes from central London. It proudly offers guests all preconceived modern conveniences (and then some) including transport links, its own helipad, an eco-luxury spa, indoor pool and three restaurants that revel in the hotel’s glorious countryside atmosphere.
