TRUE NORTH unveils refit ahead of 2024 Kimberley cruises

A refreshed cabin class and technology upgrades ensure 2024 sailings are the smoothest yet.

Award-winning Australian expedition line TRUE NORTH specialises in small, luxurious adventure ships that go where others can’t. Their itineraries are meticulously curated and access some of the world’s most remote and pristine wilderness environments, and their vessels are now better than ever. TRUE NORTH has completed a major makeover of True North and True North II in preparation for another year of action-packed adventures around Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea – and no expense has been spared to ensure that both ships remain in showroom condition while introducing some innovative new features.

Kimberley guests get the first look

Guests travelling aboard the 2024 Kimberley itineraries will be the first to lay eyes upon the refurbishments, such as the new Ocean Premium Cabin class which is more flexible and adaptable now that it offers a choice of a twin share or double bed layout. Other innovations for the 2024 season include TRUE NORTH’s vessels moving to become fully paperless for chart navigation, allowing for greater precision, efficiency and consistency whilst navigating through shallow waters and remote destinations, plus an overhaul and rebuild of True North II‘s gearboxes and a top-end rebuild of the generators in both vessels. Externally, both ships received new paint jobs and crane overhauling.

“As always, our focus remains on providing once-in-a-lifetime adventures for those joining us aboard True North or True North II. While guests will typically be spending the majority of their time exploring off the vessels – whether this be snorkelling, fishing or enjoying a heli-picnic – we want to ensure that their time on deck or recharging in their cabins is in the most relaxing environment possible,” says Chad Avenell, director of TRUE NORTH.
