The Thrill of heli-skiing Canada
CMH Heli-Skiing is the world’s most comprehensive and spectacular wilderness skiing experience. With more than 50 years of experience and 11 heli-ski areas throughout British Columbia, thrill-seekers come to CMH from all over the world to indulge in Canada’s indomitable landscape and powder.
Hans Gmoser founded CMH and invented modern heli-skiing in 1965. When most skiers were perfecting turns at their local resort, Hans was staking out a 1.2-million-hectare reserve with some of the best terrain on the planet. CMH has been there ever since. The total CMH tenure is 23 times larger than all the skiable terrain of every resort in North America combined. There’s no need to worry about crowds; the maximum skier capacity means guests are sharing those 1.2 million hectares with just 450 people.
Anyone from strong intermediate riders with a few solid powder days under their belts are able to join in the fun. If you lack experience in deep powder, consider signing up for the Powder Intro Programme to get you up to speed. At CMH, safety reigns above all.
Off the powder, discover 12 unique lodges, each with their own personality. Some find their favourites and settle in for a lifetime, while others try them all to experience the different environments. The magic started at Bugaboos Lodge and is still enchanting guests every season. From the cosy log-hewn 32-room lodge, you’ll take in the same mind-blowing scenery that’s astounded mountaineers for a century. History abounds, but so do modern comforts: Bugaboos has one of the best hot tub views on the planet.
Each one of the 32 rooms at remote Monashees Lodge has a panoramic view, making this timberframed lodge (with a rooftop hot tub) the ideal place to clear your mind and rest your tired legs.
Spaces for 2018 are booking out fast, and heli-skiers typically book 12 months in advance. Travelplan Ski is the exclusive agent in Australia for CMH.
