The Pullman brand has landed in Melbourne
AU$30 million dollars has been invested to turn an existing property into the upscale hotel that guests of Pullman brand expect.
With 12 years of success in the Australian market to support them, the Pullman brand has unveiled their 16th property in the country, the cosmopolitan Pullman Melbourne on Swanston. The first Pullman property in Melbourne’s CBD, the project involved the complete rebranding and renovating of the property which was formerly known as The Swanston Hotel Grand Mercure. Sitting on Swanston Street, the building resides in the gateway to Little Bourke Street, a precinct known for some of Melbourne’s best shopping and dining.
The collaboration between Erdigroup and the Accor-owned Pullman Brand has resulted in a property that has been truly transformed, with AU$30 million dollars invested in the project. The original building was stripped back to a skeleton and the overhaul has seen renovation to all aspects of the old hotel, including its lobby, club lounge, guest rooms and striking façade. Rising 15 levels, views of the Melbourne CBD are guaranteed, as is the exceptional hospitality for which Pullman is known.
Hidden on Little Bourke Street is the ‘secret’ laneway entrance the hotel, a distinctly Melbournian feature that inspired the team of four interior designers tasked with the redesign. Guests enter through an architectural tunnel that opens into an arresting lobby, the perfect welcome to the eclectic mix of urbanism within.
The exclusive Club Lounge is a real highlight of the hotel, a signature Pullman inclusion that sprawls across an entire floor, boasting incredible city views and access to the private event space, Room 1954. Pullman Melbourne on Swanston has also spoiled guests with Eva’s Restaurant & Bar, which offers all-day dining and drinks and continues to embody the same sophisticated urban aesthetic as the rest of the hotel.
