The Alcott opens on Sydney’s Lower North Shore

Officially opened on Friday 20 July 2018, The Alcott is Lane Cove’s newest dining precinct.

Designed by Head Chef Richard Slarp (formerly of Sake, Aria Catering and est.), the menu is Mediterranean-style with chargrill throughout, while the venue’s vibrant spritz bar and outdoor terrace adds to the European feel.

The dedicated Spritz Bar will have you reminiscing your European travels, with seasonal spritzes including a winter Plum Wine Spritz with homemade plum puree, Mediterranean herbs and Prosecco. In addition to the spritz cocktails, The Alcott has an extensive wine list with a balance of contemporary and classical Australian wine with a European focus.

The menu is designed to be shared among friends with highlight dishes including the Charred Southern Calamari with pickled fennel, rocket, tomato pangrattato and lemon; Whole Grilled Flathead Tail with puttanesca sauce of tomatoes, olives, capers and basil; Twice Cooked Lamb Ribs with toasted almonds coriander and sumac; and Smoky Chargrilled Eggplant with tahini yoghurt dressing and crispbreads.

Head chef Slarp says, “This has been a really fun menu to design, I’ve always been a fan of Mediterranean flavours and diners can expect traditional dishes with a modern Australian twist.”

On weekends, The Alcott will be open for brunch serving up wholesome dishes such as a Warm Green Bowl with sweet potato hummus, kale, broccolini, peas, puffed wild rice, pumpkin seeds and poached eggs; Shakshuka Baked Eggs with tomato sauce, manchego, grilled Turkish bread and, of course, Smashed Avocado on toasted sourdough with tomato, Persian feta, mint and poached eggs.

Keen to provide the local community with entertainment options, The Alcott will be hosting a number of events including art workshops, comedy nights and an impressive line-up of musical performances on Sunday afternoons and live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights.

The venue, designed by Pony Design Co, is home to a variety of spaces and intimate nooks. Filled with lush greenery, the open-air terrace is the perfect spot to dine al fresco or enjoy afternoon drinks. The dining room is designed for leisurely long dinners and two new event rooms are located on the top floor of the venue giving North Shore residents a much-needed space to celebrate

Elegant, stylish and relaxed sums up this new 200-seater contemporary venue and is an exciting addition to the Sydney’s lower north shore.
