‘Peak experiences’: The best country to visit for solo female travellers

Women have long been the primary planners of luxury travel, so it stands to reason they want their chosen destinations, hotels and tours to offer exceptional female-oriented experiences.

Switzerland has boldly risen to the challenge with the launch of 100% Women, an exciting new program delivering more than 200 tours, offers and events tailored specifically for women.

This unique initiative – created by women for women who are travelling in small groups or as solo travellers – positions Switzerland as one of the world’s safest, friendliest and most beautiful destinations for female globetrotters.

Switzerland is renowned for its snow-capped mountains, tranquil lakes, pristine wilderness, crisp, clean air, chocolate-box villages and exceptional health and wellness retreats.

But this land-locked nation in the heart of Europe also delivers peak experiences infused with world-class luxury, culture, history, adventure, culinary and sports activities.

100% Women: Experiences, tours and offers

Much of Switzerland’s tourism industry is inspired by pioneering women, whether mountaineers, hoteliers, vintners, chefs or guides.

With this in mind, Switzerland Tourism called out to the travel industry for offers exclusive to women travelling in small groups or as solo travellers.

More than 400 offers flooded in from guided and self-guided tours to unique experiences and events.

A jury chose the best among them and 220 are now available here, with additional commentary including portraits and stories of interesting women in Swiss tourism. Read on for some examples.

Good food and fine wine are foundation stones of the Switzerland experience, so it’s no surprise many of the 100% Women tours focus on culinary delights.

Discovering wild herbs and how to cook with a herbalist; wineries; beer-based cooking, tasting and brewing courses; picnics; eating for wellness, and Ladies’ Chefs Tables are all offered as part of the program.

Some of Switzerland’s iconic winter sports – such as downhill and cross-country skiing; snow-shoeing; ice-skating; snowboarding; hiking by the light of the moon, and other peak mountain experiences – can be combined with yoga and life-coaching.

Many of the tours also combine wellness, mindfulness and pampering, wrapped up with luxury accommodations, gourmet cuisine and expert guides.
