Regent Seven Seas Cruises has welcomed its newest ship, Seven Seas Grandeur, with a lavish christening ceremony in Miami, Florida.
A new era for the art of luxury
A highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the Fabergé x Regent ‘Journey in Jewels’, the first Fabergé Egg to permanently reside at sea.
Crafted in England from 18k white gold, the ornamental egg sits upon a pedestal of ocean greens and turquoise, finished with diamonds and pearls. Representing the seven seas of the earth, seven waves harbour the treasure within. When the pearl helm is rotated, the seven blades open in unison, revealing a hand-painted egg, cradled by a wave, delicately rotating revealing a changing gradient of colours of sunrises and sunsets at sea.
Founding Member of the Fabergé Heritage Council and great-granddaughter of Peter Carl Fabergé performed godmother duties at the exclusive event and will host the Fabergé Spotlight Voyage on board Seven Seas Grandeur on 1 July 2024. Accompanying the Journey in Jewels Seven Seas Grandeur has a 1,600-piece art collection with multiple works by Picasso, a custom-made bronze, hand-cast glass Bonsai Cherry Tree sculpture – which will welcome guests into the Asian-fusion restaurant Pacific Rim – and The Enchanted Tree a 40-foot-tall, hand-woven tapestry by world-renowned Brazilian artist Walter Goldfarb.
