PONANT luxury cruising

PONANT luxury cruising

PONANT, the World Leader of Luxury Expeditions has been sailing the seas for 30 years and is currently the only cruise line to sail under the French flag. Embark on a unique concept of sea travel onboard intimate luxury expedition ships offering exceptional itineraries combining authentic experiences, cultural encounters, and stops in remote places not accessible by larger ships.

The PONANT fleet

The PONANT fleet will consist of 12 ships by 2021, 10 small luxury expedition ships, one three-mastered sailing yacht and one luxury icebreaker ship. PONANT’s smaller-capacity ships boast 32 to 132 elegantly-designed staterooms and spacious suites, 95% with private balcony. Offering French-designed interiors and ambiance, guests can enjoy luxury amenities, superior comfort and personalised service – the feeling of being on board one’s own personal yacht. The six PONANT Explorers yachts are the newest editions to the fleet, and are named after the French Explorers, Le Lapérouse and Le Champlain, who will commence their maiden season this year, Le Bougainville and Le Dumont-d’Urville, who will start sailing in 2019 and Le Bellot and Le Surville, two new ships that have been recently announced, will join the fleet in 2020. These new stars of the PONANT fleet are fitted with a movable marina platform, enabling guests to swim and engage in other activities directly from the ship, a submersible mini-port providing easy access to nautical activities (kayaking, paddle boarding, water skiing, and more) and is also equipped with the world’s first multi-sensory underwater lounge, called Blue Eye. Another recent addition to the PONANT fleet, is the world’s first luxury Icebreaker, to be delivered in 2021. The PONANT Icebreaker will be the first ever PC2 Polar Class luxury cruise ship, it is a hybrid electric icebreaker powered by Liquified Natural Gas, and at the cutting edge of technology it will be a real pioneer in terms of environmental protection. The PONANT Icebreaker will be able to allow guests to reach the Geographic North Pole, complete an Arctic Ocean crossing, discover Greenland’s extreme North East or probe the icy wilderness of Antarctica. With a refined onboard ambiance and luxury services — never before available in the far extremes of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres — with the new icebreaker vessel PONANT provides not just cruises, but true expedition polar odysseys.
