The iconic Sydney restaurant will open its doors in the foodie capital next June.
After great success during its six-year Sydney residency, the team at NOMAD will be expanding to 189 Flinders Street, Melbourne in June 2020. Though forging its own look and feel, the new restaurant will maintain its original philosophy which is rooted in exceptional local wine, produce and design.
Co-owners of NOMAD, Al and Rebecca Yazbek have engaged architect Clare Cousins to transform the Flinders Street property, where it will be contending with renowned restaurants Supernormal, EZARD and Kisumé. The team plan to transform the space into a moody 150-seat bar and restaurant, with refined detailing and a concealed entrance contributing to an overall sense of elegance.
Current Head Chef of the Sydney property, Jacqui Challinor will move to become Executive Chef across both properties in the coming months, with her sous chef Sam McCallum stepping into the role of Head Chef in Sydney. Though some of NOMAD’s hallmarks such as the wood-fired oven will make the move to Melbourne, the new restaurant will feature a predominantly new menu paired with a wine list that will feature local and international wines from the best small producers.
