New Year brings new snow to Colorado ski resorts

Fresh powder falls on Colorado Ski Country resorts over the weekend.

The New Year is off to a snowy start at Colorado Ski Country USA resorts, with several centimetres of fresh snow blanketing ski areas across the state.

Crested Butte Mountain Resort led the state with nearly a foot of fresh snow over the weekend, welcoming 28 centimetres of powder on Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

Snowmass and Aspen Highlands received 20 centimetres of light, fluffy snow, making for great powder day conditions on Sunday.

Telluride and Monarch each welcomed 18 centimetres of snow, while Steamboat, Sunlight and Winter Park received 15 centimetres of snow each.

Another 12 centimetres of snow fell near Front Range resorts including Loveland, Arapahoe Basin and Copper Mountain. Most resorts across the state received at least a few centimetres of snow over the weekend and weather forecasts are projecting more snow coming into February.
