Mövenpick dishes up Tassie views and a ‘Chocolate Hour’ with first Australian hotel
Mövenpick Hotel Hobart has opened its stunning doors in Tasmania.
The 22-room hotel, just a stone’s throw from the waterfront, marks the Swiss heritage brand’s first venture into the Australian hotel scene.
It won’t be the last. Mövenpick plans to open several hotels in the Pacific in the coming years.

Mövenpick Hotel Hobart is mere moments from Hobart’s historical and increasingly popular Salamanca precinct, with its lauded art and craft markets.
It’s an easy drive to MONA, Hobart’s world-famous and whacky art gallery.
Guests will also find countless culinary experiences, within an easy drive.
Swiss heritage, Aussie flavour
Designed by Jaws Architects, the Mövenpick Hotel Hobart honours the Swiss brand’s contemporary, locally-inspired style ethos and the interior is all about those Aussie feels.
Think warm tones, richly layered textures, wall panelling, natural materials and tactile surfaces that nod to Tasmania’s globally-renowned landscapes.
Guests can connect to Hobart’s pretty natural setting with many of the guestrooms providing breathtaking panoramic views.
Global design agency Greymatters designed the common areas which occupy the first two floors.
When dinner time rolls around, guests can dig into a refined Italian feast with a local slant at lobby restaurant Tesoro Modern Italian.
But our eyes (and noses) are firmly on the daily Chocolate Hour, because what is a Swiss hotel without chocolate?
Between 4pm and 5pm, a complimentary sweet treat, such as an éclair, brownie or truffle, is served with any chocolate-inspired cocktail, mocktail or affogato purchase, making cocktail hour all the sweeter.
The hotel also offers an indulgent assortment of chocolate tasting packages available at any time of the day, along with a selection of Mövenpick ice cream, so you can keep those sugar cravings at bay.
For the more health-conscious, Mövenpick Hotel Hobart’s breakfast spread includes energy shots blended with juice or yoghurt and fresh fruit and vegetables. You will find a range of nutritious breakfast dishes, including grab-and-go small portions.
