Michelin-starred Massimo Bottura offers cooking classes from quarantine

The chef behind Gucci Osteria is providing nightly cooking content on Instagram, much to the delight of his followers.

All the way from Italy, three-Michelin-starred Massimo Bottura is keeping spirits high with his nightly cooking classes. Aptly named ‘Kitchen Quarantine’, the instalments have been broadcast via the Instagram Live feature and take place in Bottura’s family kitchen, where he is currently quarantined with his wife and children.

Showcasing Bottura’s famously cheerful personality, his Instagram page has turned into an online community full of amateur cooks hoping to learn some of the chef’s secrets. In every livestream, he guides viewers through simple recipes step by step such as Thai green curry or tortellini, helped by various members of his family. Entirely taught in English, each episode features a Q&A session which gives his audience a chance to ask all their questions about the recipe or ingredients.

Warm and comforting in such a tumultuous time, the livestreams take place at 8 pm Central European Time or 6 am Australian Eastern Daylight Time. Those who don’t want to get up at the crack of dawn can see some of the videos preserved on the San Pelligrino Fine Dining Lovers Youtube channel, or browse @massimobottura’s Instagram feed for some inspiration and behind-the-scenes sneak peaks.
