Summary

Opened in 2013 and housed in Rome’s former school of architecture, you cannot help but be captivated by the subtle allure of JK Place Rome. Its unobtrusive facade stands out in a city adorned with grand architectural marvels. A passerby might overlook the unassuming entrance on a narrow street, unaware of the lavish sanctuary concealed within. There are no ostentatious displays or towering signs; a modest doorway invites the curious into a world of refined elegance.

The concept

On entering JK Place Rome, you are transported into a realm where luxury unfolds gracefully in true la dolce vita. Interior architect Michele Bönan blends classic Roman architecture – think neoclassical sculptures – and mid-century-inspired contemporary furniture (which Bönan’s company also creates) on Berber rugs under the glaze of a glass ceiling.

Soft hues and rich textures greet the eye, complemented by curated modern art pieces. Like a large painting by the Italian mid-century modernist Franco Ferrari in the salon. The ambience whispers of timeless sophistication, evoking a sense of tranquillity amidst the bustling city just metres from the door.

The Signature factor

Housed in Rome’s former school of architecture, it’s not merely the opulent decor that sets JK Place Rome apart. On arrival, the staff offered me a drink of choice. Dressed in impeccable attire, they exude warmth and professionalism, embodying the essence of Italian hospitality. Whether arranging bespoke tours of Rome’s hidden gems, orchestrating private dining experiences in exclusive settings, or simply anticipating preferences in-room amenities, the staff’s dedication to ensuring a seamless stay is evident in every interaction.

If you have time, day trips to Tivoli, Positano, the Amalfi Coast, the island of Capri, Pompei, Hadrian Villa, or Villa d’Este can easily be arranged.

On my plate

Its restaurant, JK Cafe, celebrates the essence of Italian cuisine, showcasing the freshest local ingredients with an innovative twist on classic dishes. Pastas like Carbonara and Amatriciana, and a Caprese salad using the freshest buffalo mozzarella and datterino tomatoes are senational. Do save room for the Fragole e Cioccolato – a warm brownie layered with white chocolate namelaka, fresh strawberries and handmade gelato.
