For travellers who seek the finest that the world has to offer

Find a slice of paradise at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa

Exclusive suites, adults-only dining and an outstanding spa retreat await guests at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa. The resort offering an opulent escape in a tropical paradise. By Andrew Conway.

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa’s 266 rooms and suites and breezy restaurants, bars and pools appeal to an array of guests. Perfectly nestled amongst 35 acres of tropical gardens along picturesque Natadola beach, the resort truly is an oasis. It’s protected by a reef that creates an aqua-blue ocean-facing lagoon.

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa offers a range of facilities welcoming guests of all ages. Featuring five restaurants and bars, an award-winning serene spa, 18 hole championship golf course, three swimming pools, a dive pool, a kids club, a wedding chapel, and conference facilities.

The resorts elevated offering, Club InterContinental is Fiji’s first ‘Club’ experience, offering the privacy and exclusivity of a resort within a resort.

Club InterContinental

Perched on a hillside, yet an easy stroll or buggy ride to the main resort, Club guests are cocooned in contemporary, comfortable and thoughtfully designed one- and two-bedroom suites with roomy living, dining, bedroom and ensuite bathroom spaces and balconies with outdoor tubs, while some Club Suites also feature private plunge pools.

Club InterContinental One Bedroom Suite

There are views… and then there’s the view from 3221, my one-bedroom Club Suite at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa. My balcony is one of the most elevated in the entire resort. My view stretches across tropical greenery, over clusters of Fijian-style pitched roofs, and out to the beach, fringing coral reef and Natadola Bay.

The spacious suite provides unparalleled privacy with a comfortable terrace, a private plunge pool, a king bed with his and her en suite and a separate lounge and dining area. The top-floor suite features a private balcony, day bed and signature outdoor Cleopatra bath.

The Top Suite

The signature Natadola Suite, with two ensuite bedrooms and a chef’s kitchen, offers an even more exclusive holiday retreat. Located on the Club InterContinental hilltop, the residential-style suite is encompassed by lush tropical gardens, and panoramic views of Natadola Bay, The sprawling suite of 218 square metres features indoor dining and living room, a private pool, a tropical courtyard and a dedicated outdoor entertainment space.

Club InterContinental Lounge

The Club Lounge is the enclave’s social hub, serving daily complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and sundowner canapés and cocktails, managed by a very welcoming and attentive team of Fijian concierges, chefs and bartenders. Children can enjoy the facilities by day, but the lounge becomes a kid-free zone at cocktail time.

The Club Lounge’s view takes in a stunning infinity pool, nest-like cabanas, lush landscaping, and the ever-changing hues of South Pacific sunrises and sunsets.

Gourmet dining

Dining is at the resort’s three restaurants – Sanasana for casual buffet-style fare and the poolside and beachfront Toba Bar & Grill – but my pick is Navo, located at the palmfringed lagoon end of Natadola Beach, overlooking Navo Island.

Navo Restaurant

A quiet and nuanced dining experience (adults-only for breakfast daily and again for dinner from 7.30pm), Navo’s menus feature produce from Fiji’s 14 provinces: Sigatoka Valley vegetables; Vitigo poultry; Vuda pork; exceptional Yasawa lobsters; fish from the Koro Sea, and the highest-quality meats.

Decorative table pieces, handmade by artisans, women and children from rural Fijian communities, reference the resort’s sustainability efforts, while the discreet service and excellent wine list combine to deliver a meal to remember.

Situated alongside the Sugar Cane train track and overlooking the Meke Lawn and Natadola Bay, Sanasana Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sanasana Restaurant is perched beautifully to offer captivating views of the gardens, beach and ocean.

Toba Bar & Grill

Toba Bar & Grill is the go-to casual dining destination. Offering a wide range of crowd-pleasing dishes such as wood-fired pizzas, burgers and desserts. Raw and vegan options are also offered. Cocktails and long drinks are available to order for poolside relaxing.

Spa InterContinental

If ever there was a case of leaving the best until last, Spa InterContinental is it. My final afternoon was spent in the sauna, hydrotherapy pool and ice room of Spa InterContinental’s Wai Zone followed by a 90-minute Natadola Bay Honey Retreat delivered by Pratishna, a fifth-generation Indian Fijian and expert spa therapist.

A combination scrub, wrap, mask and facial – using organic sugar, milk, honey yoghurt and turmeric and topped off with a body-numbing massage – left me smelling sweeter than a Fijian frangipani flower. No surprise this sanctuary was voted Fiji’s best resort spa in the World Spa Awards 2022.
