Hayman Island is the most northerly of Queensland’s Whitsunday Islands. The island’s 400 hectares are blissfully development-free, save for InterContinental Hayman Island Resort. The resort is slung low around a crescent of white sand and set against the spectacular backdrop of the Great Barrier Reef.
InterContinental Hayman Island Resort immerses you in a world of natural beauty, island experiences and sacred moments of connection with family, friends and yourself. Life here is an idyllic mix of barefoot and elevated luxury. Enjoy champagne picnics for lunch, fine dining for dinner and helicopter trips over remote reefs.
The brand-new 12 standalone Beachfront Pavilions
InterContinental Hayman Island Resort’s accommodation portfolio has been taken up a notch with the launch of 12 standalone Beachfront Pavilions. They are strung like jewels along a secluded stretch of Hayman Bay. Private and secluded, the pavilions are a 10-minute walk from the main resort. The decor is in earthy hues with a focus on natural materials because after all, the real eye candy is what lies outside.
These adults-only hideaways offer every reason to linger. Each stand-alone pavilion has a private plunge pool and outdoor terrace with ocean views for days, plus a light-kissed living area with style to spare. Step out onto your patio and you’re presented with a palette of cool Coral Sea blues. The only thing between you and the watery menagerie is a postcard-worthy line of coconut palms that arch toward the slick of sand just so.
In the light-filled bedroom, a super king bed sits beside floor-to-ceiling glass framing ocean views. A deep soaking tub is the highlight of the bathroom with twin basins and a separate shower area.
Pavilion guests receive My Concierge privileges, a dedicated itinerary planning service to take care of every need from Dining Under the Stars to reserving cabanas by the iconic Hayman pool.
A short walk from the heart of the resort, guests can enjoy the restaurants and bars, pool and spa experiences. As well as the water activities on offer. Immerse in island luxury by doing as little or as much as desired. A stay in one of the Beachfront Pavilions is undeniably romantic and the perfect couples getaway.
Exclusive on-island experiences
From the moment your feet hit the sand, you’ll discover unforgettable experiences. Exploring the world-famous Heart Reef by air, the turquoise swirls of Whitehaven Beach by boat or remote rainforest mountains by foot is just the beginning.
Sea kayaking adventures will take you close to the mantas and turtles that call this part of the Great Barrier Reef home. Nature walks reveal the native flora and fauna that flourishes here. Helicopter adventures see you fly low over Heart Reef before landing on squeaky white sand to feast on a gourmet hamper and glass of bubbly.
There are also diving excursions, guided hikes, snorkelling in Blue Pearl Bay and new bucket-list experiences. Hayman’s adventure team stands ready to fulfil your holiday dreams and then some.
Or maybe you’ll choose to do nothing. Reclining on a sun lounge, occasionally reading the book lying by your side. In an increasingly busy world, having no place to be feels truly blissful.
Dining at InterContinental Hayman Island
Wake up to poached eggs and avocado, a fresh juice and coffee in Pacific. Enjoy classic cocktails with a Hayman twist in the 1950s-styled Bar Fifty. Poolside you’ll find the breezy Aqua, a California-style beach bar dishing up share plates, oysters and zesty ice pops. Handmade pasta, woodfired pizza and Italian vino is on the menu at contemporary Mediterranean eatery, Amici. Then steamed dumplings, wok-fried noodles and Asian-inspired cocktails are served up next to the infinity pool at Bam Bam.
Guests can indulge in the ‘Under the Stars’ à la carte menu or a secluded gourmet picnic at one of many idyllic locations on and around the island, such as Hayman Beach, Blue Pearl Bay and Hayman Pool’s cabanas.
Pacific is the resort’s signature brasserie-style bar and restaurant. It offers a gourmet buffet breakfast in the morning and sophisticated à la carte dining into the evening. Designed as a hub of connectivity to both people and island, Pacific will also unveil a draw-dropping oceanfront bar. At its heart will be a beverage collection featuring classic cocktails with a contemporary twist, Australia’s best wines, boutique beers and premium spirits.
Perched on the side of the Hayman® Pool, AQUA offers guests a refreshing menu of easy-to-share seafood dishes, tropical fruit juices, fresh salad bowls and classic cocktails.
A blazing wood-fired pizza oven sits at the heart of this casual Mediterranean eatery. The menu features pizza, pasta and an Australian wine list starring Italian grape varietals.
Full of character and your go-to for bold zesty dishes, Bam Bam serves up pan-Asian cuisine infused with a fresh Australian twist. Specialties will include wok-tossed noodles and sugarcane juices, packed with punchy flavours.
Lastly, Bar Fifty has served sophisticated cocktails to globetrotters since the 1950s. The bar is et in the heart of the resort’s lobby. Bar Fifty pays careful attention to its distinguished past, reopening with twists on familiar favourites, classic cocktails, canapés and light bites within a lively hub.
Hayman Spa & Salon
Hayman Spa & Salon exclusively uses Australian-owned Sodashi products, all 100 per cent natural and vegan. The menu standout is the signature Couples Suite Package where guests are invited into the Bamboo Loft, a wood-panelled treatment area featuring a private steam area and soaking tub.
Treatments have been curated around the resort’s idyllic setting, using Australian marine ingredients such as green clay and kelp. The Marine Renewal Facial and The Detox Marine Wrap – a salt therapy using sea and land extracts – are both designed to enhance natural radiance and even out skin tones.
Complement your spa experience by luxuriating in the Hayman Spa Oasis before or after your treatment. Bliss out while you rotate between the steam room, sauna and plunge pool. You can also indulge in a massage in one of the cabanas overlooking the Coral Sea or from the comfort of your own room.
