For travellers who seek the finest that the world has to offer

The ultimate Gold Coast weekend getaway with friends

Grab your closest friends and head out for a Gold Coast weekend getaway full of fun, frivolities and fantastic food.

This itinerary packs a lot in to two days – we advise having a car at the ready, or make sure your Uber app is set to go!

Day One

First stop: Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise, its multi-room apartments the perfect perch for a group of travelling friends. A ‘secret’ rooftop garden is one of many highlights at this 77-storey apartment hotel in the heart of Surfers Paradise.

It’s a short stroll to Lot 1 Coffee, where they take breakfast seriously. Order tasty bites like peanut butter French toast or an acai bowl loaded with fruity goodness.

Now that you have a pep in your step, make your way to HOTA (Home of the Arts) Gallery for a dose of Queensland culture. This institution is home to more than 4,500 artworks, making it the largest of its kind in Australia outside a capital city. But there’s much more to this creative precinct, including space for workshops and talks, a theatre, a sculpture walk and a number of restaurants and bars.

Then head to The Exhibitionist on the gallery’s rooftop for a flute of champagne and views over this pretty pocket of the city.

Prepare for an evening packed with laughter at Topgolf Gold Coast, which is so much more than your average driving range. Hit your way through three levels of golfing challenges while enjoying feel-good tunes. Come sunset, head to the rooftop bar where you’ll find live music and a great vibe. Here, you can sit back and soak up the atmosphere for hours. The establishment is open until midnight and the restaurant serves fare to share like buffalo wings and flatbread pizzas.

Day Two

You don’t have to travel far to get your caffeine fix: ESPL. Coffee Brewers is at the base of Peppers Soul. Which means you can enjoy more million-dollar views for the mere price of your morning macchiato. Head to nearby suburb, Isle of Capri for a pastry from Bisou Bakery. The twice-baked sourdough almond croissants, baked fresh daily are absolutely divine.

Then head out for a morning bike ride from Main Beach to Burleigh. There are a number of bicycle rental outlets near your hotel. But we recommend using a bike share option so you can cycle to lunch and decide your next mode of transport from there. Be sure to wear your swimsuit so that when you reach Burleigh you can take a dip in the ocean.

Still in Burleigh, Suzy BBQ was practically made for groups. This funky Korean dining room – replete with vintage posters and lipstick-red booths – allows you to grill your own meats and seafood at your table.

Pair this with delicious dumplings, kimchi pancakes and a chilled Asian beer, and you have quite the feast. Nearby, Kin Pan-Asian’s atmospheric back bar is lined with hard-to-find Japanese whiskies. It’s not the easiest place to find (look for the sign with a fish fighting a chicken) but once inside you’ll see why it’s described as one of the coolest yakitori bars this side of Tokyo.

Get set to embark on a journey to the heartland of the country through a thrilling live show featuring Aussie characters, mesmerising animals and immersive technology.

The Australian Outback Spectacular delves into the story of two farmers and the hardships they face living on the land, alongside the community that supports them in true blue Aussie fashion. An included three-course dinner and drinks are the icing on the performance cake.

End your fun-filled night (and this weekend) on a high at Cali Beach Club, the largest of its kind in Australia. Stellar views and sensational cocktails with great friends… what could be better?
