Get lost in ‘Reverie’ at these new boutique beauties in Sri Lanka

The family behind renowned tea company, Dilmah, has launched two properties in Sri Lanka’s south where you can hide away in secluded beachside bliss.

The Fernando family made its debut in the luxury hotelier business with Resplendent, the business that opened the Ceylon Tea Trails. Now, two new boutique properties under the ‘Reverie’ brand promise an intimate escape unlike anything Sri Lanka’s south coast has seen.

Kayaam House and Ahu Bay are just two hours apart, set amid golden sand beaches and a palm-fringed coastline.

Perched on Ahungalla Point between two secluded bays, Ahu Bay has a four-room standalone villa, and three, three-bedroom beach villas.

Choose the Bay View Suite (pictured above) with views across a tropical garden and your own plunge pool to the turquoise waters of the ocean.

Expect rustic interiors with rattan furniture, recycled wood accents and plenty of natural greenery, while a casual all-day restaurant produces fresh dishes using local produce that will take you deep into the Sri Lankan culture.

Sister property, Kayaam is also just steps from the Indian Ocean and has eight stylish rooms and suites. Bring the whole family and stay in the Palm Residence which has its own garden and Jacuzzi and a loft the kids will love.

With wellness at its core, you’ll find traditional healing treatments using local herbs and spices and the chance to practice yoga in the outdoor pavilion.

A third property, Kelburne Estate, will open in December 2023 as a collection of hillside cottages in the tea-carpeted mountains of Haputale.
