French cheesemaking tour coming May 2020
Join a unique, eight-day tour uncovering mysteries of some of the world’s greatest cheeses and cheesemaking techniques. Guests receive exclusive entry and guidance as they meet artisan cheesemakers, each using century-old traditions to make renowned handmade, gourmet cheeses.
The highlight of each day is seeing first-hand the art of making the famous AOC Comté, Époisses, Morbier, Raclette, blue vein, goat’s and other fresh cheeses from the small village fromageries. You will experience the delight of authentic French food and dine each night in the best local restaurants, staying in chateaux and charming old buildings.
Tour numbers are strictly limited to 10 people so that the artisan cheesemakers can share their craft.
The eight-day tour starts from the enchanting medieval city of Dijon. From there, pass through some of France’s most gorgeous countryside before spending three days in the medieval village Château-Chalon. Along the way, stop at small villages and their local outdoor markets, visiting boutique vineyards and cellars with personalised wine tastings. The last two days are spent at a small chateau in the mountains of Syam, close to the France-Swiss border.
