ROBYN SINFIELD

Signature Luxury Travel & Style Luxury Cruise Awards Judge
Robyn Sinfield
Home Travel Company, Tasmania

Robyn Sinfield is the co-owner of Tasmania-based Home Travel Company and one of our experts on the judging panel of the 2023 Signature Luxury Travel & Style Luxury Cruise Awards.

Robyn specialises in worldwide river, ocean and expedition cruising and has clocked up more than 900 cruise nights at sea, with 103 of those collected in 2023 alone. Robyn is a proud supporter of Mercy Ships, an international charity deploying hospital ships and volunteers to developing nations, and when she’s not working or travelling you’ll find her cooking, gardening or reading.

How long have you been in your current role, and what are your biggest professional achievements?

I celebrate 40 years as a travel and cruise advisor next year. My biggest achievement was winning the coveted CLIA Australasia Cruise Champion in 2023 – the best of the best award!

What has been your most memorable travel experience, and what is next on your wishlist?

I was gobsmacked by Antarctica. Until you’ve been, you don’t get it. It’s truly life-changing to know that you’re potentially walking where no one else has. I’ve sailed on ships and vessels for more than 900 nights, so there aren’t many places by river or ocean I haven’t been. I tend to ‘go back’ now and see it all differently. I have personal cruises booked through to October 2024 so far to re-experience.

Robyn Sinfield’s accolades:

  • CLIA Inaugural Best Cruise Office Australasia
  • CLIA Best Mobile Cruise Advisor Australia
  • CLIA Cruise Champion Australasia
  • Telstra Business Women’s Awards Tasmania
  • Westpac Business Owner Category
  • Cathay Pacific Excellence in Customer Service allowing attendance at the Cranfield University in UK to study Strategic Marketing for service businesses

At Signature Luxury Travel & Style we are committed to supporting organisations with a focus on responsible travel and sustainability. What does sustainable travel mean to you?

Sustainable travel is such a large topic, but when broken down into small pieces we call all do something positive. For example, no single-use plastics on ships and using water fountains and refillable water bottles. Remember, ‘nothing’ into the ocean.

Travellers should consider the impacts of overtourism and be conscious of destinations that attract too many people at one time, in any one place. All it takes is planning better schedules and collaboration to protect cultural and natural heritage.

When on the land, I value hotels, lodges and resorts that clearly demonstrate the incorporation of sustainable practices in their everyday operations. For example, sourcing local products, supporting regions and giving back to their community.
