COMO The Treasury in Perth has introduced a new afternoon tea that showcases the culinary experience of Western Australia’s southern Cape Arid National Park.
The works of Western Australian artists Philippa and Alex Nikulinsky adorn the walls of the luxury hotel’s new Cape Arid Rooms. The artworks set the scene for what is to come, a culinary journey into WA that took two years to craft.
The tea features dishes from Bannister Downs Dairy in Northcliffe, Honey for Life in Karragullen, and the Chestnut Brae Farm in Carlotta among others.
The Cape Arid afternoon tea menu includes:
- Smoked chicken sandwiches with toasted walnut and light curry mayonnaise
- Shave honey leg ham pretzel with Cambray gouda, rocket and piccalilli
- Rye tartlet, chestnut, mushroom duxelle, ricotta and candied pine nuts
- Super Jarrah honey cheesecake tartlet, spiced apple compote
- Bahen & Co chocolate and caramel choux, craqelin
- Lime and mint delice with citrus curd, mint sponge and eucalyptus
The Como also lists the distance each dish has travelled from the farm to the plate on an elegantly painted menu.
Tea, or wine?
Emma Farrelly, State Buildings Director of Wine, has chosen a selection of champagnes and wines to complement the afternoon tea menu.
The tea program has been curated in collaboration with Teassential, with the Cape Arid Rooms team trained by Teassential tea master David Liem.
It includes rare and precious teas used in bush medicine.
“We have focused on elevating every individual element of the afternoon tea service,” Jesse Tibert, COMO The Treasury Hotel Manager said.
“From the carefully crafted tiers of the afternoon tea stands which feature three rich local woods, to a focus on continuing the experience beyond the tea rooms with complimentary handcrafted seasonal pastilles given to each guest upon departure.”
COMO The Treasury is offering a two-night package that combines a hotel stay with the Cape Arid Rooms experience, priced from $1,595 for two guests.
The package includes breakfast at Post, a choice of either afternoon tea with a glass of sparkling wine or a three-course lunch at rooftop restaurant Wildflower. It also includes dinner at Post and COMO Shambhala Signature Massages for two.
Afternoon Tea is available Wednesday to Sunday from 12.00pm to 5.00pm
