Leading model Charlee Fraser set to walk in the David Jones VAMFF Gala Runway
It has been recently announced by David Jones and partners, Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF), that leading Indigenous Australian model, Charlee Fraser, is set to walk in this year’s Gala Runway. Presented by David Jones on Tuesday 10 March, the Gala Runway is the largest International and Australian designer line-up of the Melbourne Fashion Festival, as it draws over 3000 attendees across two shows.
The 24-year-old, Charlee Fraser, has had both national and international success in her budding modelling career. Fraser has previously fronted Jones Magazine, walked for David Jones in its Collections Launch runways and was the face of the AW19 campaign, Art of Living. Originally from New South Wales, Charlee Fraser made her international runway debut at NYFW in 2016 and has since worked with leading global brands, such as Celine, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga and Chanel.
David Jones is switching it up this year by bringing its anticipated Collections Launch runway direct to customers at the festival. The Gala Runway will debut the department store’s AW20 season collection and will feature the new trends and timeless looks from leading Australian and international designers, some of which include, Balmain, Carla Zampatti, Dion Lee, Rixo LONDON and Calibre.
Charlee Fraser is the perfect fit as the headline for the VAMFF Gala Runway, as she embodies the values of the 2020 festival campaign, Fashion’s Wonderland. The campaign aims to break down stereotypes of fashion norms, encourage self-expression and celebrate one’s individuality and uniqueness, while promoting joy and fun. Yolanda Finch, Melbourne Fashion Festival Acting CEO, said in a statement that Charlee perfectly embodies the spirit of joy and celebration of individuality inherent to this year’s theme, and she uses her platform to support causes close to her heart while lifting women up.
