Sydney’s historic Capitol Hotel has undergone a transformation.
Now a part of the Independent Collection at EVT, the property reopened at the end of October 2023 showcasing restored character and eclectic design. Influenced by the hotel building’s unique history – once serving as the Belmore Markets, a circus and a hippodrome – the hotel’s quirky design choices are diverse. The head designer for the refurbishment, Andrea D’Cruz assisted in bringing the new aesthetic to life within the hotel. A carefully curated colour palette of teal, gold, sage and red echo the drama of the theatre while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests. Each floor has been assigned one of the four distinct colours, complemented by matching artwork.
