For travellers who seek the finest that the world has to offer

At home in Paris with La Réserve

Two addresses, two different ways of experiencing Paris. From grand society living with vintage flair in the hotel to contemporary apartments with iconic views, we find out what makes the La Réserve Paris experience so special.

From the outside, La Réserve Paris – Hotel and Spa almost looks like any number of elegant hôtels particuliers on the tree-lined streets radiating out from the Place de la Concorde, serene in Haussmannian stone and wrought-iron curlicues. Only the lacquered ruby-red entryway gives any hint of the sumptuous hospitality within.

Beyond the threshold, guests are enveloped in designer Jacques Garcia’s take on 19th-century decadence: tufted velvet sofas, brocade taffeta fauteuils, silk wall coverings, marble fireplaces and antique furniture. This private urban mansion was built for Napoleon III’s half-brother, the Duc de Morny, in 1854, and some 160 years later, it’s easy to imagine that the aristocrat would still recognise his home.

And above all, the owner of the La Réserve hotels, Michel Reybier, wants his guests to feel as if they are visiting a friend’s home. In lieu of a check-in desk, guests are welcomed in the comfort of the Salon Louis XV, a magnificent room where rediscovered decorative moulding and cornices gleam with gold leaf. The setting is like a James Tissot canvas come to life, providing a glimpse into the bourgeois society of 19th-century France.

Your space in a private home

There are more suites than rooms in the Palace-rated hotel – 25 suites to 15 rooms – and each one is a generous reinterpretation of classical style with a bevy of subtle modern conveniences. Flatscreen TVs emerge from polished wooden sideboards, mirrored panels conceal complimentary not-so-mini-bars and customised iPads put all the hotel’s services at your fingertips. In a city where space is at a premium, the sheer size of the Carrara and Turquin blue marble bathrooms exudes luxury.

The finest suites overlook the Eiffel Tower and the Grand Palais. One suite features a Steinway grand piano; another, a library lined with historical tomes. All are decadent retreats that capture the beauty and style of the Belle Époque.

Dining par excellence

Guests of La Réserve Paris – Hotel and Spa are never far from some of the city’s favourite chic restaurants and bars. Restaurant Le Gabriel received two Michelin stars barely a year after the hotel’s flagship restaurant opened, cementing the reputation of Executive Chef Jérôme Banctel’s cuisine. In a gilded dining room that was likely a ballroom in its past life, visitors and locals dine on contemporary French fare with a soupçon of Asian influence, inspired by Banctel’s travels in Japan.

La Pagode de Cos is a tribute to Cos d’Estournel, Michel Reybier’s Bordeaux vineyard (and home to the family villa, La Chartreuse de Cos d’Estournel). Go on an innovative culinary ‘spice route’ inspired by the estate’s founder, Louis Gaspard d’Estournel, known as the Maharaja of Saint-Estèphe, who exported his prestigious vintages to the Far East and built exotic pagodas over his cellars in celebration. Seated in deep armchairs and surrounded by peach-coloured Corinthian columns, diners savour scallops, lemongrass-infused soup and vegetable dim sum.

Relax and recharge

The emerald-toned Library is where guests can help themselves to a cocktail from the honesty bar, curl up with one of the 3,000 or so rare books on the shelves, or be serenaded by a pianist in the evening. This space radiates a lived-in cosiness you rarely see in five-star hotels, and even has a hidden cigar lounge with its own courtyard. And in the scarlet and gold surrounds of the Bar, guests sip the finest Cos d’Estournel vintages and an ever-changing selection of cocktails.

For guests who need to escape and recharge, La Réserve Paris Spa proposes a menu of sophisticated treatments formulated with Swiss anti-ageing cosmeceuticals brand, Nescens. There are just three treatment rooms arranged around the 16-metre indoor pool (a rarity in Paris), along with a fitness area and a steam room.

Live like a Parisian

Three kilometres away, on the legendary Place du Trocadéro, Michel Reybier Hospitality has created a contemporary Paris home away from home, with the Eiffel Tower as a neighbour. The 10 full-service pieds-à-terre of La Réserve Paris – Apartments are designed for friends and families looking for unparalleled privacy. The light-filled apartments range in size from 140 to 300 square metres, with one to four bedrooms, making them ideal for long-term stays.

Modern designer chic is how best to describe Rémi Tessier’s design for the apartments, a perfect minimalist complement to the rich aesthetic favoured by Jacques Garcia at the hotel. Clean lines and understated elegance are made possible with ebony, rosewood and sycamore playing off the more industrial textures of slate, concrete, stucco, metal and glass.

Guests in these timeless Parisian abodes enjoy a suite of services, including valet parking, concierge available on request, secure access, a library and a housekeeper, on hand to prepare breakfast and do the grocery shopping. Host a gourmet dinner party in convivial surrounds with a chef to prepare the menu, or indulge with a range of in-home spa and beauty treatments. Perhaps best of all, the facilities and dining venues of La Réserve Paris – Hotel and Spa are just a complimentary shuttle away.

Authentic French hospitality

This duo of Parisian experiences builds on the Michel Reybier Hospitality philosophy of excellence, authenticity and simplicity pioneered at the lakeside La Réserve Genève – Hotel, Spa and Villa and La Réserve Ramatuelle – Hotel, Spa and Villas, just a few minutes from buzzing Saint-Tropez. Whether cocooned in the dramatic interiors of the hotel or living like a local in the apartments, La Réserve Paris invites guests to discover a highly personal and intimate vision of contemporary hospitality that is utterly unlike the classic standards of luxury.
